The Phillies have offered Josh Hamilton a three-year deal, according to 94WIP's Anthony Gargano.
The team has been mentioned as a potential destination for Hamilton in recent weeks. CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman reported that Hamilton is seeking a seven-year deal, though many expect he'll have to settle for fewer years.
A three-year deal doesn't seem to be enough. A Phillies source said he would be “shocked” if the team manages to sign Hamilton, according to ESPN's Jayson Stark. The team does appear to be involved for the 31-year-old outfielder but may have to increase its offer. Hamilton hit .285/.354/.577, with 43 home runs, in 636 plate appearances last season.
