Josh Hamilton Signs 5 year deal with Angels

    MLBTR:
The Angels are getting close to a deal with Josh Hamilton, Yahoo's Tim Brown reports (on Twitter). The deal with the Moye Sports Associates client is not quite done, Brown adds. Joe McDonnell of FoxSportsWest.com first reported that the Angels were involved in serious talks with Hamilton.

Guys, this is just speculation on my end, but maybe the Angels will try to trade one of their extra OFers now. Bourjos to the Mets for RA Dickey seems fair, right?

5 years, 125 mill for a power hitter with durability issues coming off of his age 31 season? What could go wrong?

Luckily he doesn't have a past of substance abuse issues because LA would just be a death trap for that.

Holy mystery team, Batman! Two winters in a row of signing the most expensive postion player. Insane.

Bourjos by himself isn't enough for Dickey. Mets seem steadfast in wanting at least 2 pieces for him (NYP guy tweeted earlier there were 4 teams willing to part with 1 big prospect, but nobody has been willing to move 2).

So it appears they are comfortable trying to go with the "who cares about ERA when you score 9 runs a game" approach to baseball

                            Angels' motto for next season:

"Bring in seven runs, give up eight."

I don't get all the talk about them being some offensive juggernaut. They essentially replacing Torii Hunter (132 OPS+) with Josh Hamilton (139 OPS+). I'd put any amount of money they score less than they did last year unless Mike Trout has one of the best seasons ever again.
