    Mat Gamel's Last Last Chance

I guess it's old news, but I missed it. Corey Hart is out for up to four months, so it's Gamel time!

Brewers first baseman Corey Hart will miss the next three to four months — or about six weeks of the regular season — as the former outfielder requires surgery to repair a meniscal tear on his right…

I'm so tired of this bullshit from Corey Hart. If you remember last year, he missed the start of the year too, because of knee surgery. His excuse was he put on too much weight over the offseason, and then hurt his knee running in an attempt to get back into game shape. It will be good riddance once he is gone.

I don't think the change in talent is that bad when switching from Hart to Gamel, the only concern I have is how will Gamel handle facing left handed pitchers (as the article notes). He's going to have to play every day, I expect Taylor Green (also a left hander) or one of the catchers to be playing first when he needs a day off.

Unless they want to sign Carlos Lee, Casey Kotchman or Lyle Overbay, all of whom I believe are still on the market and would take a one year deal at least by this point.

        Shoulda traded for Morse ....
The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept.
As he went, he said: "O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom!
If only I had died instead of you
O Absalom, my son, my son!"

I wouldn't mind Carlos Lee on a 1 yr deal. He wasn't terrible last year (.264 AVG, 9 HR, 77 RBI, .332 OBP) Last year he sucked vs LHP, but the last 3 years he is: 113-441, .275 AVG, .334 OBP, .784 OPS, 15 HR which is pretty good. Would also be a good vet player off the bench.
