Good signing. Low cost (we can assume), no risk, a good veteran hand added to the rotation.

They should start the year with Harvey, Santana, Niese, Marcum and Gee in the rotation. Wheeler is in play once summer rolls around.

Solid move to add a veteran to the rotation. If he performs well, they get a decent prospect in return at the trade deadline. I'm surprised the Orioles didn't negotiate with him, since Joe Saunders seems to be at a stand-still, unless they are confident in ending up with him.

Marcum's Home/Away splits over the last two years are pretty significant. Playing in HR friendly Miller Park didn't help him at all. He's a great fit for Citi Field (just keep him away from Philadelphia), I expect a sub 3.5 ERA, if he stays healthy.

        Marcum's 2011 numbers:
        Home: 4.81 ERA, 1.22 HR/9
        Away: 2.21 ERA, 0.74 HR/9.

I was thinking that, great signing using the ballpark, finally using it to their advantage. Just hoping he passes the physical.

I wish the Brewers would have given him this deal.
