Reliever Kyle Farnsworth has agreed to a one-year deal to return to the Tampa Bay Rays, a baseball source told ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick on Thursday.
Farnsworth can earn up to $3 million between base salary and performance bonuses, the source said.
He has made 97 appearances for the Rays over the past two seasons, recording a career-high 25 saves in 2011.
The well-traveled Farnsworth has pitched for six teams over a 14-year career that began with the Cubs. He has a 40-62 record with a 4.24 ERA and 52 saves.
