    Miguel Montero rips Trevor Bauer

Yet another account of how hard this guy is to deal with.

It was common knowledge last season that Diamondbacks pitcher Trevor Bauer did not do a great job of endearing himself to the rest of the team.

I think Bauer is a nutcase and I have no problems with the D'Backs unloading him and making him somebody else's problem. I'm all ears if you want to argue the compensation, but I wouldn't want a guy like this around my team, either.

SSS, I know, but fwiw he also looked like poop the couple of times I watched him last year.

To me, what makes his trade so stupid is that this personality of his was no secret. I'm no draft or college guru and I barely know any prospects outside of the Dodgers' organization. Even I knew that this is what he was like. There were no shortage of stories about him and his dad coaching themselves at UCLA - it was more fun to cover Bauer about than his better teammate, Gerrit Cole. With all this information out there, and the fact that the Diamondbacks have professional scouts doing way more digging than I ever did makes their giving up on him so quickly such a momentous failure. It was no secret what his personality was like, and since they knew that when they drafted him they deserve the blame for his not-panning-out.

The Diamondbacks had plenty of pre-draft prep time to interview this kid and discern how stubborn/particular/dedicated whatever adjective you want to use to describe his methodology. Whatever you think of it, it's very important to him and he more than made that clear to whichever team would draft him.

Arizona should have passed if they weren't willing to let him do his thing.
