Can't do 14.
NL league already has multiple starters who are backups in real life. This league is even deeper, so adding two more teams would really make things crazy and result in some serious bums in starting lineups.
For example, lets look at 2B & SS. There are 15 teams in the AL, so if we had 14 teams in the league, you are looking at all but one of the real life starters at each position starting in the league. The MI spots would then be occupied by the two remaining starters, an 12 shitbum backups. Not to mention your bench.
OF, same thing. 45 real life starters, and with 4 OF per team in the league, with 14 teams, 56 would be required to fill our starting lineups. That's 11 backups, and again, you also have to fill a bench.
Long story short, 14 teams is just too many. 12 is the sweet spot for roster balance, leaving just enough for decent bench depth if you draft wisely. There are deep leagues, and then there is just stupid.
