He actually has some low-budget weekly show ("The Tim McCarver Show!") that CBS airs during dead times on the weekend...usually like 11:30am on Sundays. Found that to be odd...it would be like Billy Packer getting his own college basketball show at this stage in his career.

I have always hated Tim McCarver with a passion. Guy is a condescending dud. "Now...on an intentional walk...the pitcher wants to aim for the end of the catcher's arm...because that is usually where the catcher's mitt will be..."

Of course, his time has long past...but it will initially be a little sad to see a guy I can remember listening to for close to 20 years leave.

Sort of like Tony Schiavone...he wasn't good, but he was there calling WCW/NWA on TBS/TNT for about 15 years and then one day, he's just gone (now he does Atlanta Braves radio I believe).

McCarver is so bad. The thing with McCarver, is he is so inoffensive and sterile, that no matter how bad he is, he was safe enough for FOX to plop on the #1 team. Kind of like how Jay Leno isn't funny at all, but when they tried to put Conan in his spot, he flopped, and they went right back to Leno. America at large likes 'comfortable', safe personalities a lot of the time.

The disappointing thing about McCarver is he use to be a good baseball mind. He use to be pretty good and he wrote a really good book about baseball so he gets it. He understands the game at a higher level but for whatever reason (him not caring or NFL-driven Fox directive) he's gotten to the point of: "Roy Oswalt is a drop and drive pitcher, which means he drops then drives..."

Paraphrasing Ken Rosenthal here, but McCarver has called something like 26 all-star games and 25 world series. In addition to playing in the majors in four separate decades.

That's quite the life, though obviously as a broadcaster he leaves much to be desired.

Who would everyone like to see him replaced with? Who is fox likely to replace him with?

Regardless FOX national broadcasts will still suck because of Joe Buck.

Right. We can hate McCarver all we want but the real problem is the guy next to him.

Would love if Jon Sciambi got the pbp gig, but he won't. Probably the best of the up and coming national guys.

Sciambi and Keith Hernandez would be my dream team FOX national pairing but they'll never pry Keith from SNY and that amazing 3-man booth.
