Another Dodgers Cuban, Onelki Garcia, was just promoted to AAA as a relief pitcher. He's only ever been a starter in his career in Dodgers system. He's a 23 year old, 6'3 220 lefty. Dude throws gas, but he's got a very high walk rate (5.2 BB/9 versus 9.1 K/9). I wonder if the AAA promotion is to prep him for a few relief appearances as a September call-up.

Stephen Fife is also throwing out of the 'pen in Albuquerque, but it's a regimen designed by Rick Honeycutt to keep his arm fresh in case he's needed for a spot start at the MLB level on short notice. The Dodgers are in the midst of a 16-game stretch without a day off, so Fife could be called up in order to make one start as a 6th guy just for the purpose of giving everyone else an extra day off.

It looks like, barring injury, the big club's rotation for the rest of the season will be Kershaw, Grienke, Ryu, Nolasco, and Capuano.

Was already slashing .329/.432/.480 coming into this game in 43 games. Only 1 HR so far through 43 games and 183 plate appearances, but he appears to be ready for a promotion to Rome to finish things out.

Hard to get too excited about rookie league numbers but I've been intrigued by this kid since the night of the draft. Sounds like he's working strictly as a 3B despite being listed as a C on draft night.

In other news, sounds like Appel will be winding down his season after a couple more starts, hmmm.

“We’re going to keep Appel in Quad Cities,” general manager Jeff Luhnow said according to the Houston Chronicle. “He’s going to make his next start next Monday and probably one more start after that and then that will be it.

“We only want him to pitch maybe 10 more innings, so that’s two starts. Corpus is on the road for most of August. Quad Cities is home. He’s comfortable there.”
