It's just not something they work on the second they go to the professional ranks. They don't pick up a bat at any point during their minor league careers. They don't do it during ST, extended ST, camp, etc.

I honestly don't understand how most pitchers can be such awful hitters. Most of these guys likely played other positions and were required to hit regularly when they were younger. Were they crap hitters back then or did they just completely forget how to swing a bat the minute they decided to step up on the mound for a living?

Most/Some of these guys last took actual at bats in high school... Kind of a different game.

10x as many sacrifice bunts in college than in NL ball. You'd hate their adherence to archaic tradition even more.

Kershaw was the coolest story on opening day. CC with Milwaukee did some cool shit too. Not all pitchers suck at hitting gotta let them try. It's un-American to suggest otherwise. Everyone gets their chance to bat. You must be a communist.

Not all pitchers are bad hitters. Just like not all DHs are good, there's a lot of quad-A replacement level slop in that extra slot too.

I think everyone has their opinion set on the DH and nothing will change it, I myself am on the anti DH side.

The only compromise I would be willing to do, is let the Home Manager make the election before each game whether or not the two teams will use a DH. I think that would be interesting.
