He wasn't in MVP races, he wasn't in all-star games, he wasn't in World Series, he was hardly ever in the postseason, he never led the league in any significant category...am I missing something?

Again, I said he's not him, I'm more or less talking about Abreu-like players. I personally wouldn't put Abreu in but I think he deserves at least a conversation against his contemporaries who likely will get in.

      .292/.396/.477, 129 OPS+

      60.4 career WAR/41.5 7yr-peak WAR/50.9 JAWS

Better JAWS than Vlad or Ichiro. Better 7-year peak WAR than Vlad, Ichiro or Sheffield.

I think a stat like career WAR is somewhat redundant. Yeah, he has a 60.4 career WAR, but how many times did he finish a season in the top 10 in WAR? He had a 9th place finish in 2004, and thats it. Not exactly a measurement of greatness. I looked at the career oWar stat...right above Abreu's 60.4 mark is Toby Harrah with a 61.9 career WAR. Harrah got exactly 0.2% of the Hall of Fame vote in 1992.

I agree, but it's apart of the package. I care more about the 7 year peak.

Yeah. When you peak, you win.
