What type of baseball game do you prefer to attend/watch?

When you are watching baseball, what kind of game do you like to watch most? Do you prefer to watch a pitchers duel? Or a 12-10 shit fest?

Does your opinion change depending if you are watching at home? A sports bar? In the bleacher seats at the game?

What about no hitters? Do you always cheer for the no hitter? Or are you anti american and cheer against them like Nahste? What if it is the opposing team's pitcher?

    Discuss please. No statistics. Thanks.

I talk about this with friends all the time, good topic.

I'm typically more in favor of seeing a slugfest when I'm there live. It keeps the crowd more alive, if there are home runs the crowds always excited, there are fireworks going off, etc. It's just a more fun atmosphere.

Of course if by the 5th inning we're in some historic territory (I've seen a Perfect Game, No Hitter and 2-outs away from a No Hitter before) then give me the duel. Otherwise, it's not the greatest experience to sit in the bleachers or the upper deck when a pitcher is mowing down 15 hitters. You can't really see the pitches, you can't see the hitters reactions and the crowd is usually completely out of it unless it's a truly, unbelievably dominant performance.

I went to a Cubs game once with Carlos Zambrano pitching (against the Braves, I think). Wrigley Field doesn't really have a Jumbotron, so you have to pay attention to whats going on. It was the typical Cubs/Zambrano game...errors, Zambrano hitting batters, Zambrano walking the bases loaded, etc. The Cubs were doing nothing on offense, so Atlanta was up like 4-0 in the 7th. All of the sudden my buddy realized that Zambrano was working on a no-hitter...he had pitched terribly, the Cubs had played terribly, yet Atlanta still didn't have a hit. As soon as I recognized this, Atlanta got a hit in the top of the 8th.

Agree with all of this. Well pitched games are boring live. Especially if you have bad seats and can't decipher the strike zone. Nothing kills the atmosphere in a stadium like 0-0 in the 7th with 3 total hits. Live, I want action. Especially if I have no rooting interest. Give me 12-10.

If im at a game I prefer the Cubs to be winning...i dont care if its a slug fest or a pitchers duel.

At home I like a pitchers duel, you can see the pitches and enjoy it a bit better. I also always root for the No No

I prefer a pitchers duel. Only reason I'd want a ton of homers is if I'm in position to catch one. To me the game is more exciting when it's low scoring and the slightest turn of events can change the outcome of the game.

Ones that don't feature Steve Trachsel.

                Worst pitcher to watch live...EVER.

God, I saw him once in Milwaukee and it was absolute torture.

If its Verlander I want the no hitter. If not give me the home runs.

True. Worst manager to watch live was Tony LaRussa. Changing pitchers after one pitch, arguing ball/strike calls, being allowed to wander aimlessly around the diamond for no apparent reason, endless mound conferences with the infield....yawn.

The best baseball game I ever went to live was at Citizens Bank Park a few years ago when Hamels threw a complete game shutout against the Giants. The atmosphere towards the 8th-9th inning was incredible. Whether it's a 12-11 or 1-0 game, I think it all depends on how excited the crowd is for me.

When watching at home, I prefer NL baseball because the duration of the games seems much shorter (this could be statistically inaccurate for all I know, but it feels that way). AL East games are unbearable.

Rodrigo Lopez, you can just feel the funk in the crowd.

I prefer highish scoring games without a lot of HR. Homers are kind of anti-climatic. Guys scoring from 1st on a ball in the gap are exciting and watching those types of plays unfold are the best part of baseball IMO.
