How about that Chris Davis guy?

Great atmosphere tonight, great crowd to be a part of, despite feeling like I was at a Ravens game. I do agree, Zimmermann should have been pulled in the seventh. You could see some good contact being made off him in the sixth, including the Markakis home run. On a ridiculously hot and humid night, leaving him in for the seventh (with no one up in the pen) was asking for it.

Interesting, Royals just fired their hitting coach and named George Brett the interim.

CRADS are on a tear right now...shocked they came back from that rally-killing, lead-off homer by Carlos Beltran in the 8th to eventually win the game.

          Michael Wacha tonight!

This is actually kind of surprising. I'm sure somebody will claim him.

Davis is a wrecking machine and I'd drown a puppy in front of my grandmother to have Machado on my team.

You're absolutely right about Zimmermann. I have no idea why he wasn't pulled after 6. My guess is because Davey Johnson fell asleep on the bench and didn't wake up till the 7th. Which, it being the 7th, obviously Davey had to put in his 7th inning guy. Who cares that he's a fly ball pitcher that gives up a shit ton of homers. It's not like Criag Stammen has a 63% ground ball rate and hadn't pitched since the 27th. Nope, Clippard and Storen are 7th/8th inning guys and you have to use them there. Just like Espinosa should start because of his gritty defense and the fourth best OBP in the lineup should hit 8th because he's a catcher and they should always hit 8th in the NL.

I take it back. I don't want Machado. I would club a baby seal in front of Richard Dean Anderson for Buck Showalter to be our manager.
The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept.
As he went, he said: "O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom!
If only I had died instead of you
O Absalom, my son, my son!"

Thinking a trade is in the works, Fredi said several teams have already called.

Nationals are on pace to score 570 runs this year. 71 less than when they went 59-103 4 years ago

I remember that same problem with Johnson with the Orioles, at least relating to his pitchers. He would leave them in for far too long, and he didn't even have someone stretching in the seventh, a huge mistake.

Outstanding pitching from Harvey, Niese, Hefner and Gee for the 4 game sweep of the Yankees.

Mets head to Miami over the weekend for a chance to extend the 5 game winning streak.

Mike Matheny deserves to make a public apology after this game. What an absolute fucking joke.

                            At least Wacha looked awesome.
