Best and worst beat writers / columnists for your team? (Stolen from Deadspin)

Deadspin's doing a poll on the best and worst beat writers for every team, and I thought it'd be interesting to bring here.

For the Cardinals, I'd say Derrick Goold of the Dispatch is the best. Informative, breaks news before the rest of his local colleagues, and is a good follow on Twitter. Bernie Mikalsz is a bit of a homer, but I like his stuff as well.

The worst is by far Joe Strauss. Jeff Gordon would probably be the worst if it came to straight reporting and writing, but Strauss's Twitter feed pushes him way over the top (or bottom, in this case).

The best writer for the Dodgers, hands down, is Eric Stephen. He manages the Dodgers' SB Nation blog, TrueBlueLA. I would say that the worst is a blog called LasordasLair - those guys are idiots.

Mark Saxon is probably my least favorite "legitimate" Dodgers writer (he writes for ESPN.com and ESPNLosAngeles) and of course anything that Bill Plashke and TJ Simers write for the LA Times is usually puke-worthy. The only LA times writer I can stand is Dylan Hernandez - he seems to have more fun on twitter talking about ballpark food than Dodgers baseball. My other favorite Dodgers writer is a blogger, too. That would be Mike Petriello who writes for ESPN Insider, some FanGraphs, and manages his own Dodgers-centered blog called MikeSciociasTragicIllness.

If I want any shred of current information on the Dodgers, I go straight to the twitter for Eric Stephen. He's phenomenal. I think one time last season Don Mattingly made a comment that Eric Stephen knows the Dodgers players and their capabilities better than anyone on the teams' payroll (including himself). High praise for a morbidly obese blogger.
