    Biogenesis suspensions handed out

Major League Baseball came down heavy on the players it found to have been involved with the Biogenesis clinic, suspending Alex Rodriguez through 2014 and banning 12 others for 50 games, including Nelson Cruz, Everth Cabrera and Jhonny Peralta.

They include A-Rod through 2013, Nelson Cruz, Everth Cabrera and Jhonny Peralta for 50 games.

    Discuss.

I think its odd that people/media still get upset when MLB/Selig tries to do something about steroids. I understand the arguments against how MLB is going about this and the lack of due process and evidence...but I don't understand the blanket statements like "the owners allowed this to happen in the 90's -- its hypocritical to be against steroids now". At what point is MLB allowed to move out of the 90's and try to enforce a drug policy?

      I hate this too.

The best part of all of this, is the players themselves are finally starting to turn on each other and speak up. It used to be that you could never get quotes or players to speak out harshly on the issue...because most of them were using. I think a lot of guys are clean now, and they're annoyed that these guys are still fucking around with this shit and costing honest players jobs.

Thats the most remarkable thing...either a majority of the players were using in the 90's, or all of the good players in the 90's were using and the mediocre players were afraid to speak out. Kind of funny how quickly things got out of hand.
