Really stupid question here but with all of the celebrating of Ichiro's 4000th professional hit I was started to wonder, If we are counting his his Japanese stats, why don't we count minor league stats in total numbers? Aren't minor leaguers also playing "professional baseball"?

It falls under the Pro umbrella but the record books have only cared about what happens at the Major League level.
