Mets acquire 19-year-old low-A infielder Dilson Herrera. He played in the Futures Game this year.

Dilson Herrera career batting statistics for Major League, Minor League, and postseason baseball

So now McKendry doesn't have to catch a single pitch the rest of the way. I assume he'll be optioned for a few days, then come up on Sept.1 and pinch hit the rest of the way or DH against AL teams.

McKenry had knee surgery on July 31st and is out the rest of the season. Tony Sanchez, former first-round pick, is Martin's back-up at the moment.

Pirates also looking to add Justin Morneau as well, my guess is that it comes down to what the Pirates are willing to take salary wise.

This sucks for every other team because McKenry was pure ass cheeks behind the plate. Couldn't throw out a runner to save his life. 14% caught stealing percentage this year.

This would worry me. The acquisitions of Byrd and Buck don't.

                Nice pickup for RF.

Mets get a teenage 2B prospect. Alright.

Still good upgrades to the bench, but this is only to help get guys some rest down the stretch before the playoffs. The Morneau one will be a much larger impact, both now and for the playoffs.

The PTBNL is rumored to be Vic Black.

Touches 98-99 out of the pen, and has nice MiLB numbers. He'd be a good bullpen piece for the Mets.

I'll take two lotto tickets from the Pirates farm for two JAGS any day.

Pen would be great for next year if we get Black...can allocate more resources towards the offense and another innings eating SP

I'm impressed with what the Mets got for those two. Wasn't Byrd an NRI? Great haul. Mets have been quietly making some solid trades, starting with Beltran and then Dickey.
