The only thing worse then defensive metrics are awards for defensive prowess going to inferior players (and yes, I'm conceding Hardy v Ryan last year.)

Pshhh, gold glove winners don't hit .194 and have an OPS of .555!

Is there any way to cut Ryan Zimmerman's defensive metrics so that he doesn't look like utter shit?

Four more throwing errors and he owns the record.

That doesn't explain Mike Trout getting robbed last year.
The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept.
As he went, he said: "O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom!
If only I had died instead of you
O Absalom, my son, my son!"

Rookie. Gotta earn a rep of many years of excellence to win a singular year award. Then win them when you don't deserve them anymore. Duh.

I get your point but I do think we're getting closer. Between the eyes, UZR and DRS you can usually get a close enough sense. Total Zone seems to be an outlier here. Humans generally consider Choo to below average in CF, and UZR and DRS both say he's in the negative teens. Neither WAR metric uses Total Zone, so there's at least that.

Im not really making a point, I just thought it was funny. I think total zone is shit, and I think UZR is shit. The rest are ok but obviously you have to be a bit skeptical and look at everything. I'm a "look at everything and try to mash it together" guy combined with eyeball, unless I dont see the guy much.
