Happy for the Pale Hose, they needed an infusion of new talent and excitement.

On a 20-80 scale what is his power regarded as? I mean his stats are incredible but I've read before that the Cuban league is equivalent to AA ball.

Klaw said "70 raw" ... didn't mention an in-game grade but said he should have enough to hit between 25-35 HR, which I guess would translate to 65ish in-game? Klaw said he's got more "slider" bat speed than the type to turn around good fastballs, so it sounds like a guy who will have to feast on mistakes to be successful.

Cuban players are hard to scout in a lot of ways but I like the deal either way. It's a risk the Sox have to take if they want to be a competitive team again in 2-3 years. There's just not enough talent in the system for there to be a short turn around so moves like these set them up to get back into contention soon.

It seems all of the recent Cuban defectors are either producing or looking promising.

I will have to keep a mental note about this guy come fantasy draft time.

The VSN experts arrived at a "Pedro Alvarez" floor/ceiling for this guy for fantasy purposes in our most recent shoutbox sesh. Feel like whatever we see year one is essentially what we're going to get, no real upside to project for a guy who has already physically developed.

                Nothing wrong with that.

And as I mentioned, he's 26, so you skip most of the awkward prospect phase that Alvarez or any young power hitter would go through.

Good deal, it's not even a lot of money unless he completely bombs.

If you buy into WAR dollar value, he only needs to be a 1.7 WAR or some shit to be "worth" $11.33M per.

Puig's 6MM AAV will be gone in two years when he can opt out of his contract and go for "arbitration." Ryu can do the same.

I wonder if Abreu's deal is constructed similarly.
