Fay also notes that as far as he knows, the Reds didn't interview anybody else (including Riggleman), and Pryce was the guy they wanted all along. He was the pitching coach, and has a rep for being a very good one. He interviewed for the Marlins job last year and reportedly turned it down. Word going around is the Mariners were going to try to interview him and likely offer him the job if the Reds balked.
He's also the guy the fans (and I) wanted all along. He's thought to be a forward thinker who embraces analytics, and the pitching staff loves him. He was also the lone voice in favor of starting Chapman this past spring.
