    Lincecum re-signs with the Giants

@JonHeymanCBS: Tim Lincecum deal is believed to be for $35M over 2 years

@JonHeymanCBS: Lincecum receives full no trade clause

Tim Lincecum is staying put with the San Francisco Giants just as he hoped, reaching agreement Tuesday on a two-year contract through the 2015 season.

The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept.
As he went, he said: "O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom!
If only I had died instead of you
O Absalom, my son, my son!"

Hmm.. I see to remember being told there is no way Lincecum would sign a short term deal by some of the resident VSN baseball experts less than a week ago.

Wanted him to come to Anaheim

So you could have a more dominant 2011 team and more putrid 2014 season?

So we could have a back end of the rotation that doesn't include Joe Blanton.

Right now the Angels 2014 rotation is:

            1. Weaver
            2. Wilson
            3. Garrett Richards?
            4. Who knows..
            5. I won't even bother watching when this guy is pitching.

Even if it meant going $21 million per, the fact that the deal is only two years long would have been one of the lowest risk moves by this crazy front office.

I hate the Giants and their shitty, market skewing contracts.

Lincecum has been flat out terrible for two season. One season, you can forgive. It happens. But this is two now. It's a pattern. Any decent starting pitcher is looking at $20M per the next couple of seasons if this is any sort of base.

That is one really ugly deal.

I don't think it skews it all that much TBH.

Sure the per year investment is high but I don't think teams are just going to start throwing that kind of money at guys left and right unless they're willing to agree to a deal no longer than two years themselves.

IMO, it's just the Giants giving Lincecum what he would have gotten had they done a deal 3-4 years ago. Not saying I agree with it or think it's right, but four years ago, the money he's signed for now seems like a bargain.

4 years ago he would've gotten way more.
