Haren headed to Dodgers- 1 year, $10 million

The Dodgers and free agent right-hander Dan Haren have agreed to a one-year contract worth $10 million, reports Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. The contract, which is pending a physical, includes an option for 2015 that vests with 180 innings pitched

I know it's the Dodgers and money doesn't mean much, but there may be only a handful of players besides Haren who deserve $10 million-plus less. He's strictly average now, and you are truly overpaying for his past performances.

This just skews the FA market for the rest of the teams. Not that the Vargas deal didn't already help with that.

Granted, Haren did pitch a lot better in the 2nd half than the 1st. Still overpaid though.

It's not like the Dodgers don't have the money, we all know this. It sucks for the smaller market teams to set this precedent. Oh well, everyone's going to do that this off-season with the extra money. I just hope my club doesn't use it to overpay on a player. If they can't get someone of value, then I'd bank it for extensions to Davis/Machado.

I just don't see it as a loss in any way.

Dodgers have the money to spend and its only one year. No real loss here, even if he is a bum.

Look at Tim Hudson getting 2/24 for what the market for a reliable 4th or 5th starter is going to be this offseason. To use a more extreme example, Josh Johnson is getting $9 million.
