Reds, Bailey close to $90/$100M deal

WEDNESDAY: Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the contract will be worth $100-110MM and contain an option for a seventh …

Making this thread for good karma, hoping Reds pull a Braves and get this done, when all signs pointed to him walking next season.

Care to speculate on what this means for Latos and/or Cueto?

It has long been speculated by insiders that all things being equal, Cueto would be the odd man out of the three long term.

Cueto has a cheap option for 2015 ($10M). Then he & Latos would hit the market if neither are signed. It has been assumed the Reds could afford two out of the three, with Robert Stephenson slipping into the rotation to replace whoever they can't sign.

Caveat here is I believe the Reds will let this season play out to see who is healthier. Cueto has the lat issue, Latos had bone chips removed from his elbow & the knee procedure last week. Also, Bailey (and Masterson to some extent) sets the price for Latos.

That's about what I figured. I think Latos is the safer bet if he proves the knee thing isn't an issue. Cueto is of smaller stature and already losing velo.

Two years younger, still presumably hasn't peaked. Cueto is very good but has hit his ceiling. Will be entering age 30 season when hehits the market. Hardly an old man, but you obviously prefer to sign the guy who's 27 assuming career archs/health remain on same path.

at the thought of W2B having ANY interest in hunting.

I will pass on the hunting, but if you pass through College Station we can grab lunch. I'm about 90 minutes from Waco.

Those hogs are all over the place down here. You see them dead on the side of the road, and people kill them all of the time. I had a old country black working for me when I first moved down here, who said him and his buddies caught a wild hog in the hood and I had no idea if he was fucking with me or not. He said they were gonna shoot it, boil off the hair, skin it, and sell the meat. He brought me a couple of pounds of meat a few days later. I brought it home, and me & my GF just starred at it and eventually threw it away.

Anyway, I dont hunt. I'm not anti hunting but i'm not into killing animals myself

Official I guess, six years, $105 million, $25 million mutual option with $5 million buyout. Not a bad deal at all
