    If you were a GM, what contract would you offer Stephen Drew?

    This sprung up in a chatbox conversation about qualifying offers. I argued that Stephen Drew was foolish not to accept his 1/14 offer, since he sucks and he'll never get an average salary close to that in the open market.

    So pretend for a moment, that you are a GM, and Stephen Drew is a free agent, with NO DRAFT PICK COMPENSATION ATTACHED. What deal do you offer him? How much do you think he is worth?

    I would offer him 2/16 at the most. He blows. 2nd division SS at best.

      Not even a question, he isn't worth that much money. Should've taken it and run as fast as he could.

      2 years, 12 million would probably be my top offer. Not even sure I would even give him the second year.

          First, he's dumb for passing on one year, $14 million. I realize one year deals are bad for a player in most situations, but I'd take that deal in a heartbeat.

          That said, all I would offer him was a one year deal worth between $7-8 million, with a second year mutual option for the same. He's also going to be 31 before the season starts, so no way could I justify giving him more than two years at this point.

                  He stinks, and $14 is far more than he's worth. Should have taken the QO. I would offer him 2/10, take it or leave it.
