M's sending scouts to watch Rays pitchers...

Of course this all centers around Nick Franklin possibly heading to Tampa. But, I wouldn't rule out a deal involving Price here. Reports were that the Rays told the M's, back in December, that a deal involving Price didn't have to include Taijuan Walker.

I know Price's agent said he would likely not sign an extension, but, $$$ talks and if the M's and Jack Z throw up enough dough, I wouldn't be shocked to start hearing reports that they are also re-visiting the Price talks.

Just some fun food for thought during this early part of spring.

I don't want the Mariners to give up Walker for anybody. It's also tough to part with Nick Franklin, but there is just no room in the lineup for him.

I don't think they have to necessarily. Reports were that AF told Jack Z that a deal for Price DID NOT have to include Walker.

Jack Z: Ok we'll give you Taijuan Walker for David Price.

AF: IDK, someone else is already offering us Taijuan Walker. You've gotta do better then that.

Jack Z: Ok, Taijuan Walker and Nick Franklin. And we'll give you our top front office analytics guy.

        AF: Analytics guy?

Jack Z: Yeah he is in charge of counting HRs and RBIs.

I doubt Price is moved until next offseason.. but the interest in Nick Franklin is probably very real and I can see (also hope) a deal getting done before Opening Day.

In sorta related news, the Mets are looking into Nick Franklin as well...there have been varying reports as to what would be a good exchange for Franklin. They have gone from Montero for Franklin, then Lagares and a small piece for Franklin.
