This will only prevent jaw fractures, facial lacerations, things of that nature. If you get caught square in the forehead, nothing to be done.

I guess pitchers could wear helmets, but nobody is going to want to do that. Besides headgear options, going with wood bats exclusively will help a bit at the youth level. Don't really think there's gonna be an easy solution in the majors, the ball that hit Chapman was coming 110 mph. He's lucky to be alive.
