    Trout deal for $144.5M. Average annual value is nearly $24.1M. Makes Trout third #Angels player with AAV of at least $24M (Pujols, Trout).

    @Alden_gonzalez
    Free agent at 29.

          Who is Trout's agent ... and why did he sign off on that deal?

                Not Scott Boras would be my guess.

                  Trout should have been the first half billion dollar deal.

                    I get that it's a lot of money, but on market value, Trout's deal sucks. If Cabrera is worth $29M a year, what is Trout worth? Giving up six years of free agency for that deal is insane. The agent that told Trout he should sign that deal should be fired.

                      He's only giving up 3 years of free agency.

                        Three years from now that could be $16 million a year lost because he settled for $24M a year, maybe more. He never should have signed for more than three years. If he told the Angels he was good for 3-years and $72M, they do the deal in a second. Instead, he gives them three years of his free agency too. Insane. I get that this is great money for you or I, but in market terms Trout just lost at least $50 million, maybe more.

                          Pretty sure it says in the contract that he is getting $50 million worth of diamond encrusted Beats, so he can sell them and donate the money to charity.

                            So the Angels would pay Trout $72M for nothing? He would have been on the team until 2017 regardless of pay. The Angels are paying him for those 3 extra years as there is no other point to the deal.
