    Pirates trade for Ike Davis

Mets and Pirates are working on an Ike Davis trade.

EDIT...trade is final. Waiting on which minor leaguer is coming back.

    RHP Zach Thornton and PTBNL

Re: the Davis-->Pittsburgh trade...Ike ran his course in NY, no other way to spin it. Earlier in his career, he was legit on track to becoming one of the top first basemen in the league. A freak injury literally put an end to any hope of that as his swing was completely fucked and has never improved since. He's remained a very good glove and he'll always have the potential to hit some home runs, but you'll have to put up with a low 200s batting average. On a good team, he can be serviceable....so watching him struggle with the Mets was futile.

The player to be named later is said to be "significant" according to Heyman. This has led speculation to say this PTBNL is a 2013 Pirates draft pick. If so, the teams must wait until June (I believe, unless it's a year from the date the player signed which could push it to July) to make his identity official in the trade.

This is an odd move, considering Sanchez is performing "better" at the plate, if you want to call it that. I guess they made the move for his glove, as I am unsure what Sanchez is like at 1B.

Sanchez stinks, so Davis is a lottery ticket with a higher ceiling. He still manages to put up decent on base percentages despite the fact he's struggled so hard the last few years.

Davis is going to hit .200 with the Pirates and .500 against the Cardinals.

Sanchez hits lefties well. He's a good platoon firstbaseman at this point and a quality bench bat. Ike Davis has always struggled against lefties. Seems like a good match for quality production at first base on the cheap.
The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept.
As he went, he said: "O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom!
If only I had died instead of you
O Absalom, my son, my son!"

There is only 2 left handers(Cingrani, Wood) in the Central as it stands right now, 3 if you count Lyons who is filling in for Joe Kelly while he is on the DL, so Ike should give them a serious boost over Ishikawa as far as Division games are concerned.

Realized he wasn't a Met....hits Grand Slam. These aren't the same ole Bucs.

Davis now has two grand slams vs the Reds this season with two different teams.

Mike Piazza was the last guy to do that, but i'm pretty sure it took him more than three weeks.

It's now official, Mets receive Pittsburgh's 2013 2nd round draft pick, 18-year-old LHP Blake Taylor to complete the trade.

                      Nice return for Ike.
