At 1-6, with only Shark's disaster having less points, the defending champs are D-O-N-E. I gambled and went all in year one looking for a title, and the strategy worked out. Unfortunately, everybody knew this day was coming because my team was old, a little lucky, and lost big pieces to the NL.
So here we are. I'm aiming for a total rebuild, because there is no light at the end of the tunnel with this current group.
Machado, Sale, Appel aren't going anywhere. I won't say "untouchable", but these are the pieces I obviously would like to build around. You can make offers, but i'll need to be overpaid. And as most of you know, i'm conservative to begin with (sup, Pete). SO good luck, but honestly I wouldn't even bother.
Here are what I think are attractive pieces that could be difference makers for contending teams. I plan to aggressively attempt to move every single one of them. With that said, if you want Ortiz, Weaver, etc prepare to part with a half decent prospect at minimum:
1B David Ortiz (yes, he qualifies at 1B)
1B Billy Butler
1B Adam Dunn
2B/SS Jed Lowrie
OF Torii Hunter
OF Grady Sizemore
OF Josh Reddick
P Jared Weaver
P Jake Peavy
P Rick Porcello
P Zack McAllister
Obviously the rest of the roster is available, too. I will take pretty much any young body with even a fraction of potential upside for just about anybody you don't see listed. Line up those NA's.
