    2011 MLB Top Prospects

Lets take a look back at who were thought to be the top prospects in baseball a few years ago.

Per Jim Callis of Baseball America, the top 25 prospects in MLB were as follows. Next to each name I have listed the players career fangraph's WAR, through today. A N/A indicates that the player has not yet made their major league debut.

    1. Mike Trout - 23.9
    2. Bryce Harper - 8.0
    3. Jesus Montero - (0.2)
    4. Julio Teheran - 3.0
    5. Aroldis Chapman - 5.9
    6. Jeremy Hellickson - 4.4
    7. Mike Moustakas - 4.3
    8. Jameson Taillon - N/A
    9. Manny Machado - 7.4
    10. Wil Myers - 3.0
    11. Eric Hosmer - 2.1
    12. Domonic Brown - (0.2)
    13. Dustin Ackley - 5.3
    14. Michael Pineda - 3.8
    15. Shelby Miller - 2.1
    16. Jacob Turner - 0.5
    17. Zach Britton - 3.0
    18. Matt Moore - 4.7
    19. Desmond Jennings - 9.8
    20. Freddie Freeman - 8.2
    21. John Lamb - N/A
    22. Jarrod Parker - 5.0
    23. Chris Sale - 12.6
    24. Lonnie Chisenhall - 2.1
    25. Mike Montgomery - N/A

The Moustakas & Dom Brown WAR totals really jump off the page.

I bet Moustakas wishes he was a SS where defense can keep you around for 15 years no matter how Ramon Santiago'y or Alex Gonzalez'y or (pick a) Izturiz'y you are with the bat.

Dom Brown is fascinating player. The only other player I can recall whose entire career consisted of basically one monster half was this guy, in 2006:

Those two stand out to me, as well as Dustin Ackley, though until I looked it up, he played 90 games back in 2011 for the Mariners and ended with 2.9 WAR that year, so another player who has only put up one really good half season.
