Profar expects to miss entire season

We've known since the spring that Jurickson Profar, the Rangers' high-ceiling young second baseman, would miss a large chunk of the season because of a partially torn shoulder. Not long ago, he suffered a setback, which added additional months onto his time-table. Now it seems that Profar is realizing that his 2014 season may be lost altogether. Here's the relevant tweet from Jeff Wilson of the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram:

Bad news for Profar, but the focus on a fully healthy 2015 is probably wise at this point.

The 21-year-old Profar owns a career line of .231/.301/.343 (76 OPS+) in 341 big-league plate appearances. Prior to last season, Profar was named as the top overall prospect in baseball by MLB.com, Baseball America and Baseball Prospectus.

Tough break, Profar was a player I was really looking forward to watching this season. Best to miss the whole season if he's already suffered a setback though.
