Machado's actions during the Oakland series

I am BEYOND disappointed in the Manny acted during this series. He's never acted so immature before and needs to be suspended to get his head back in the right place. From the Donaldson tag, showing up the umpire, and hitting the catcher with his back swing...un-fucking-acceptable.

I mean look at this garbage http://m.mlb.com/video/v33552351/oak...40608_25584196

This started a couple days ago. Apparently Machado felt Donaldson tagged him too hard. Then he decided to flop. Not sure why, as there are no rules regarding unnecessary roughness in baseball. But basically, he looks like he's playing soccer or European basketball.

Then you have today. Machado gets thrown at (or behind) and he gets all pissy again:
The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept.
As he went, he said: "O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom!
If only I had died instead of you
O Absalom, my son, my son!"

The thing is, you are taught in baseball early, especially when you only have one or two umpires in games, to make sure that they hear the tag. Donaldson did nothing wrong in that instance. Maybe Machado lost his balance, but even with two outs, he can wait near second before running over in case Donaldson had an errant throw. Donaldson made the safe play, and you can't fault him for that.

Donaldson also took exception when he was hit by a pitch on a 3-2 count later in that ballgame by O'Day (I think it was him.) He was jawing back to his dugout about something, but I find it hard to believe he would get hit on purpose in a full count in a tight game.

Machado's actions today aren't excusable by any means, and I would expect some sort of punishment to come from MLB, unless the Orioles are smart and do it first. With the leadership we have on this team, I am surprised that Machado would be acting out like this.

It was Chen on a 3-2 pitch which makes it even more likely it was accidental. It was his first hit batter of the season.

That's right, it was him, I knew I was right on the full count though. Machado and Donaldson just need to grow up.

Apparently Machado is appealing his five game suspension.

If he truly is sorry and apologized to the team, he would take the suspension. Nothing he says is going to get MLB to reduce his suspension, the whole thing started on Friday and ended up Sunday, it's not like there was just one issue. He is lucky to have only received five games, get them out of the way now.

I'll give this guy credit, but the Athletics now have jumped up the list on Orioles fan's shit lists. There was also an Athletics fan still in town at my section of the game decked out in his colors booing Machado.

I agree and, frankly, I think MLB needs to look at the entire series and not one instance. I have to admit, I would laugh a little if they decided to increase the suspension.

You know, with all the stories about Harper and Puig being arrogant hot heads, they've never done anything like this. Really disappointed in Machado. Probably most disappointed in his flop during the Donaldson tag. No reason for that soccer nonsense.

No need to flop. If the tag was hard, so be it, but you are trained to make sure the umpire can hear the tag, especially when you are younger and there are two umpires to a game. Donaldson was playing the position how he should have been playing it. So far as Puig and Harper are concerned, I would expect this to serve as a warning shot for them as well. There isn't a place for this in baseball or any sport for that matter.

Can you imagine the outcry this would have been if it had been Bryce Harper?
