    Minor league team question

Why do the minor league teams change affiliations so often? The minor league team by me has gone from A's to Orioles to Royals to Cubs in the last 10 years.

Really could be something as small as a big league club wanting an affiliate closest to them. I know the Mets are stuck with Vegas as their AAA affiliate and they rather have someone not across the country.

Don't know which level the team near you is but another factor is whether both the team and MLB club agree on the purpose. Do they take player development more seriously than wins/losses or is it the opposite?

Could also be something simple like organizations don't like the minor league team's stadium or don't feel its best for their players.

In some cases the minor league team will choose to not renew a deal with the big league club, too.

A big factor for the Orioles was getting them close together. For the longest time, their AAA affiliate was in Rochester, NY which isn't too far like the Mets with their Las Vegas team. When the Norfolk, VA team opened up, they went ahead and brought them into the fold.

Proximity is probably the biggest, but the list Empire posted covers just about everything.
