Empire's Citi Field Pics (56k be damned)

Checked out the new ballpark earlier today and damn is it sweet. The weather was windy as hell so it was freezing but during the long hot summer, it should be one of the better parks on the east coast. It's smaller than Shea and the viewpoints are pretty damn close. Compared to Shea, it's like watching in a minor league ballpark in terms of how close you are to the field.

Forget the score, Oliver Perez walked the ballpark in the first inning ($36 million worth) and the game was over from there. Over the two exhibition games at Citi Field, no Met homeruns yet although there were two BoSox homers (including a Jed Lowrie grand salami).

With Chodite as inspiration, Some pics....

    Pre-game groundcrew work

The home of the new (and gigantic) home run apple

    The new monster HD jumbotron

    The second scorebord

    The league scoreboard

The bullpens (behind one another, the benches are right next to one another)

    Right field

HD TVs in nearly every section (at least in the second tier)

    Crazy RF crooks

    Left Field

Pepsi Porch in RF...it hangs over RF a bit (Subway/Pepsi signs)

From Pepsi Porch, RF foul pole

Boston 1B Error (late in game, so it was a minor leaguer most likely)

The Old Shea Homerun Apple (behind the bullpens)

    Beautiful Flushing, Queens (ugh)

    Pics from outside the park

Thank you for the pics. Caught some of the exhibition game today on MLB network (the shiz btw). That park looks beautiful. Like the cooky dimensions and wall sizes.

Glad to get that POS Shea out of the NL East.

Park looks sick. I love the orange poles for some reason, they just stand out to me.

to clarify, they moved the old Shea apple behind the bullpens. They installed a brand new (I heard it was about 3 times the size of the old one, only saw it during the 7th inning stretch, pretty damn big) Apple in straight away center.

ahh the chop shops across the street.....to know them is to love them.....lol...

Shea was ugly but like ur 1st gurl...she had her charms...

its nice a real nice park...but it needs a lil NYC flava.....I thought they'd at least keep the NYC skyline design for the scoreboard...

Yeah, they moved the bridge design from Shea to the new park. Not sure where but it may be the Shake Shack.

Going a month from today. Thanks for the pics, Empire; they confirmed that you can enter the field level seats from the rear (and not the aisle). I'm taking my 90 year old grandmother, who's been a Mets fan since 1962, and she doesn't do stairs that well. I called for tickets (since I couldn't get the aisle or back of a section online), and they gave me the last row in section 123. With your pics, I know that she'll just be able to get right into the seat without taking more than a stair or two.

Yea....the actual Red Sox logo, I'm sure. You might need to pick up some glasses sometime.

Big deal going on with some fans about their views being obstructed. This link is from Feb or March, but there was an article in Newsday today about it.

No need to be a douchebag, though.
I'm only a douchebag to fellow douchebags.

Though I wish that they would put the logo for the other teams. I mean, some of them might be a bitch to read, but it would look absolutely awesome.

I called that average FOR HIM. Trying to pull shit out of your ass, haha, get that bullshit outta here.

                          I can bold too.

                            Miguel Cabrera.

TIgers fan were thinking he's gonna have a monster season. I said he's gonna have an average season for him, and then put up the stats that he's gonna have, which is .310/30 HR/120 RBI.

Didn't know that a .310/30 HR/120 RBI season was an average, year, but I guess I said that.

A good season is a good season. Numbers are what constitute "good" or "great" or "average". You don't look at Johan Santana and go "Oh, well he went 17-6 with a 3.20 ERA and 210 K's? Eh. Average." No. You don't. That's a GREAT season no matter who is doing it.

So say someone you never heard of hits .310/30 HR/120 RBI...that makes it a monster season then? GTFO.
Figures that you decide to keep going with this, but I'll take the bait.

Let's throw this out there for you then, when Jeter hit .300 last year, which is a good season, everyone complained that he had a down year. So if Cabrera hit 25 HR, 100 RBI, and batted .300, it would be a good season, but below average for him, therefore a below average season.

And yes, for Cabrera to have a monster season, he would need to hit at least 50 HR and/or bat .340. So uhm yea, GTFO.
