Jed Lowrie will visit a wrist specialist on Saturday and could be sidelined for the season.

According to published reports, Lowrie will be examined by Dr. Donald Sheridan in Arizona to determine the best course of action to address the Red Sox shortstop's ailing left wrist.

One option will be for Lowrie, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday, to continue to rehab the wrist after receiving two cortisone shots earlier this week. Two other options require surgery. One procedure would involve reattaching the fractured bone, the ulnar styloid. The other would require removing the bone, which would end Lowrie's season.

"The last thing I want is surgery," Lowrie said. "But if it's something that will make this better and be the long-term solution, I'll do it."

Lowrie played through pain throughout much of last season after first hurting his left wrist in May. He's hoping his visit with Sheridan will help him to finally put the injury in the past.

"It's about me finding out what I need to do and embarking on that to get myself healthy," said Lowrie. "I'm optimistic about it. I'm optimistic to get as much info as I can and go forward from there."

Lowrie remains optimistic that his current treatment plan, rather than surgery, will be enough to get him back on the field.

"I'm hoping I go to Sheridan and he tells me what we're doing right now is what needs to be done," Lowrie said. "That would be ideal -- with rest and rehab, I'll feel good and it will be a long-term solution."
Lowrie could be done for the season. Not really bad news because Nick Green is playing just as good as Lowrie and Lugo should be coming back soon. But it always sucks to see someone go down for the season especially a young player.

Good game tonight. Nice to see the bats start to come alive, and the bullpen continue to be solid.

Red Sox reacquired Kason Gabbard from the Rangers. I really liked him and am glad hes back in the red sox organization.

idk but I would like to see more players hustle down the line like Youk to beat them out. A few of them seem that they should of been beaten out.

Red Sox seem to have the Yanks number thus far. No pitching today, from either team.
