    Sabathia to sign with Yankees

Free-agent lefthander CC Sabathia has agreed to the New York Yankees' six-year contract offer, the New York Post reported Wednesday.

Sabathia, considered the biggest name in the free agent market, had been courted by the Milwaukee Brewers, the San Francisco Giants and the Boston Red Sox. The Los Angeles Dodgers said that Sabathia, who lives in California, had expressed interest in playing there, too, although the team did not publicly make him an offer.

But it was the Yankees -- who a month ago made Sabathia a six-year offer believed to be worth at least $140 million -- who apparently won out, according to the Post.

Cashman had met with Sabathia on both Sunday and Monday at baseball's winter meetings in Las Vegas. But on Tuesday, Cashman left the winter meetings and traveled to the San Francisco area to meet personally with Sabathia. It was there, the Post reported, that Sabathia agreed to the deal.

Sabathia, who was dealt to the Brewers before the trade deadline, went 11-2 with a 1.65 ERA in Milwaukee, carrying the Brewers into their first playoff apearance since 1982.

Glad to have Sabathia fat ass leaving the NL. This will give the Cubs another easy route to winning the division.

This being one of the major reasons I hate both NY Teams

          They buy everything.

Still waiting for a salary cap.... any day now would be great.

what is with all of you saying OMG this is why i hate baseball, the Yankees just use their money blah blah blah. That's pretty ignorant to say. They haven enough money to offer C.C, and they gave him an enticing offer. It's not like they were the only team to seriously entertain Sabathia. I can guarantee other teams were in the 120-130 million dollar range. The Yankees haven't had a giant spending spree like they plan to do in years. Sabathia in the A.L last season wasn't even that good.

And this is coming from a die hard red sox fan.

lol at the people at school today thinking that now all of a sudden they are going to the World Series. Yankees aren't gonna win shit, they have no team chemistry. You would think they'd look at what the D-Rays did last year, what the A's have been doing for years and see that's the way you build a winning team. Not buying every superstar on the market who is gonna play as an individual.

Yankees JUST ended a what, 15 season playoff streak?

And Mets are in the hunt every year.

They still pick up the big market FA's

                        $$ doesnt equal titles...

look at the tigers, spent big and crashed n burned....the yankees outspent every one by at least 75 million for the past few years and looked horrible in the post season[every year they made it]...

the A's are in the hunt every year and they do it w/o a payroll that couldn't pay the NYY's pitching staff

The Rays went to the world series with a payroll that was barely more than what A-rod's making

its not about the cash.....its how you spend what you have
