Just out of curiosity, did you see his stats last season?

1.40 ERA. 70.2 IP. 41 hits, *4* BB. 77Ks. 39 saves.

So, a 9.8K/9 IP, a 19.25/1 K/BB ratio, .665 WHIP guy is "living off his legacy" and "living without blame like he's the lights out guy...". Last season was probably his best season. Ever. In his career. Only once did he have a lower ERA (2005, where his ERA+ was actually a little lower), and his WHIP *never* approached .665 before, nor had his K/BB ratio approached last year's.

To call Mariano Rivera overrated is a joke. He's the best closer all-time, and is still top 3 in the game today.

His definition of Rivera being overrated is a blown save against the Red Sox (also known as the best team in baseball atm).

For one season, every team would take Mariano Rivera as their closer over their current one (including the Mets). And I say for one season because Rivera is going to be retiring soon.

Mo starts out slow every year....it's crazy how people get alarmed when this has been the norm for him.....right now his velocity is around 90-92 mph...by July it's up to 95 and that cutter is unhittable.....look how he finishes ever year

I never called Mariano the best closer still. I called Mariano a top 3 closer still (check my post).

Maybe you're referring to when I said any team would take him as their closer for one season. Would you really argue that? Rivera is a top 3 closer during the regular season, and he's the best playoff closer of all-time.

DJ Rhude, I agree with your post, however, Mariano has barely shown any decline. He's getting up there in age and one day he'll bail out of the game, but last season alone shows he is still one of the top in the game and still able to put up numbers similar to those of his past seasons. Not saying you were saying he is declining, just stating that.
