And didn't Paxton Crawford admit steroid use? I'm pretty sure Trot Nixon and Carl Everett were juicing as well.
Either way, like you said everyone (not everyone but damn near everyone) was doing it during the steroids era.
Imo, this is bad for all of baseball and people shouldn't be laughing at this. Manny has been one of the best, if not the best, hitter in baseball for the last decade and his name is now tarnished along with Alex Rodriguez (top 10 hitter for the last decade), Barry Bonds, etc. The sport is hurt as a whole, not just Manny Ramirez or the Boston Red Sox name.Comment

One source says the substance he took was for sex-drive enhancement.

Like I said though, hopefully it's something like that. Even as a Yankees fan, I wouldn't want to see Manny's legacy end up like this. He's been a big part of the game for so long.Comment

That's something that I just don't get. These athletes basically have handlers who they could easily just send off to get the proper information. Why wouldn't he have the doctor or his agent talk to MLB directly and ask if the drug or something in it is on the banned list? I'm sure MLB would happily do it to avoid one of their marquee players being suspended. I just don't understand why they just take something because the doctor told them, especially in the current climate of MLB where a bad test can be so detrimental.
All of that of coarse is assuming the "doctor gave it to me" excuse is true.
And what do the doctors gain from giving the players banned substances? Does it increase the doctor's paychecks? No. So why would they give the players banned substances?

No i dont give a fuck. because all of these guys were using. theres no way to figure out who was, who is, etc etc. now if u test positive u get suspended and ur team is hurt. thats really the only way to combat it. leagues arent going to pull championships bc 1 player tested positive. even if manny was using while on sox. every team they played had other players using.
really when i heard this i felt like this may be like the JC romero situation because i give manny the benefit of the doubt since he doesnt really have the steroid body etc. obviously more will come out and if he was using well he gets his 50 games and loses 8 million and life goes on.Comment

The Messenger brought up names like Carl Everett and Trot Nixon before. Steroids aren't always going to make you a 50 HR player, so there are always going to be surprises. These guys aren't proven but no name should surprise. I've said before, F.P. Santangelo was busted, but he was no A-Rod.Last edited by Youk; 05-07-2009, 02:01 PM.Comment

I don't see how Manny doesn't look like he uses steroids. He's built like a football player. Not as much as Mark McGuire, but he's no Dustin Pedroia.Comment
