    Brewers call up Mat Gamel

I'm pretty excited about this. We'll see how big of an impact he can make this year. He will most likely be the Brewer's designated hitter in inter league games, other then that playing time will minimum for him (primary pinch hit option, and a start once in a while).

Yeah, I'd say he's very similar to Ryan Braun when he came up. Both are 3rd baseman who suck at defense but are great hitters. Gamel was hitting .350 in AAA. I don't think Gamel has Braun's speed though.

Gamel and Braun are very similar when you compare their stats, when they came up, defensive abilities, hitting ability, etc.

Agreed, no one said hes going to be Ryan Braun. But if you compare the two at the point both came up, they share a lot of the same characteristics as Goblinslayer pointed out.

                  Yay for reading comprehension!!

Gamel, with Escobar, are really the last of the top-tier Milwaukee prospects for now (Weeks, Fielder, Braun, Gamel, LaPorta, Escobar, Gallardo) so it's getting close to do or die time for them. I wish they had the pitching to compete in the Central

i said that because i see gamel as being more of a gap type hitter, while braun is a more straight home run power type of hitter, i see gamel becoming a chipper jones type (without the ridiculous average) and i saw ryan braun becoming a alex rodriguez type (a poor man's a-rod)

The Brewers lead the MLB in quality starts.
                          They have a 4.11 team ERA (9th)
Not bad considering the terrible first two weeks of the season, that our pitching staff went through.
Don't forget about a certain closer we signed in the offseason who is 8/8 on save opportunities, and has only allowed 3 baserunners in 9 innings pitched with 0 runs allowed.
