Colangelo Hints At Who Raptors Might Take

Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo hinted at who the team might draft in a recent radio interview.

Toronto has the ninth overall pick in next Thursday's NBA Draft.

"We're looking really at the guard and wing position ... A couple of point guards, a couple of wings, and maybe one small forward that we'd be looking at," Colangelo told The Fan 590 in Toronto. "The two wings would be DeMar DeRozan and Gerald Henderson, the two point guards would be Jrue Holiday, and Jonny Flynn, and you're probably looking at James Johnson as a possibility who was a great player at Wake Forest this past year, came out early and he's another talented player we would consider there."

What pick do the Raptors have again? I don't see Derozan falling out of the top 10. I predict him to go, at the very least, somewhere between 6-10.

Ah, seems like it could be a strong possibility. :D

They definitely need to upgrade that 2/3 spot on their starting 5. Derozan's versatility to play either will definitely help them, a smart pick. Kinda funny too considering his game is said to resembled that of VC.

he wont be there come 9th pick
"From the time he hits the court, he plays at a competitive level that you rarely see," Popovich says. "He does the exact same things that Kobe (Bryant) does, that Michael Jordan did.

Henderson will be the better pro over DeMar.

I personally think Flynn would be great there...i feel Flynn is going to be a top tier PG...really like the PG class this year.

Henderson a better pro then DeRozan? Are you crazy. All Henderson does i drive the lane. DeRozan ahas so many, SO MANY advatnages over Henderson that I think you are crazy enough to have to be checked into a mental institute. DeRozan has a great mid-range game, a great offensive rebound, far more athletic hen Henderson. All Henderson has going is that he can drive the lane. So please, if you think that Hendesron will be a better pro, then your crazy.

if Derozen Falls to Raps its a steal, I think a good pick for them would be Earl Clark or Tyreke Evans

Whats the point of taking Johnny Flynn when we already traded a polished player of his stature in TJ Ford? That would really piss me off as a fan.

And ill shit bricks if we reach for James Johnson.

Henderson improved his jumpshot TEN-FOLD this year so he's not all about him driving. I know he still has a long ways to go. I doubt DeRozan is FAR MORE athletic than Hendo...Henderson is one of the better defenders in this class and has crazy athleticism. Only knock on him is he's around 6'4", 6'5" but GH has nice wingspan...very long for a 6'4" player.

Henderson overall is much more fundamentally sound, and is not nearly as big of a risk as DeRozan. Obviously he doesn't have as much upside either though.

I mean JJ got huge media in the draft and he turned out to be a decent player at best. Would you say Henderson is better than JJ coming into the draft?
I think he got huge media because he was a big time scorer for Duke and where would he be drafted based upon his projections...which were mediocre at best.

GH is a different player...plays very good defense, can drive to the basket well, shot improved last year to where he was relying on it more. Henderson is still pretty raw IMO though so I don't understand those who said his upside isn't as much as DeRozan. They are both equally athletic IMO, both have an improving mid range game, Henderson has the better 3pt shot, I feel GH is the better defender as well.

GH still needs to improve his shot, work on going to his left more consistently as well. But I feel the sky's the limit for GH.

Gerald Henderson is absolutely nothing like JJ. Just because they both went to Duke does not mean they both are busts.
