    McDyess to Spurs

Coveted free agent Antonio McDyess(notes) has decided to sign with the San Antonio Spurs, two sources told Yahoo! Sports on Wednesday afternoon.

McDyess, 34, will sign a three-year deal that guarantees him $15 million.

McDyess’ decision had come down to the Spurs, Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers.

McDyess, a 6-10 forward, averaged 9.6 points and 9.8 rebounds for the Pistons last season.

The Spurs have a successful summer and thrust themselves back into championship contention. General manager R.C. Buford has retooled the team with Richard Jefferson, McDyess and a potential second-round steal in Pittsburgh forward DeJuan Blair.

niceee, adding more depth to their roster, solid player
"From the time he hits the court, he plays at a competitive level that you rarely see," Popovich says. "He does the exact same things that Kobe (Bryant) does, that Michael Jordan did.

McDyess has a nice mid range jumper what you talking about

Before injuries McDyess was a great player. I like this pick up for the spurs. They needed one more big. Spurs are the second best team in the West when healthy

their not that far behind lakers now i think.
last year they brought the lakers to 6 games in the WCF with an injured ginobili. now they have RJ mcdyess roger mason jr is starting to do pretty well and tony parker is getting better every year, lakers did get ron ron but i think its going to be a good battle this year

Lakers didn't play Spurs in the WCF last year or in the playoffs at all if I remember right. There is still a pretty decent gap between LA and Spurs still

While i agree that the Spurs are the 2nd best in the West now , the gap isint big at all imo between them and LA

With a healthy Manu , RJ added and Mcydyess and Blair to add depth to their fragile bigs its close

yeah they did 2007/2008 season, i dont think the gap is that big, if the rockets could take the lakers to 7 games then a healthy experienced spurs team can put up a good fight

When healthy Spurs are real difficult to beat, but the problem is they have not been healthy the last couple of years. With the added depth of RJ and now Mcydyess lets see if they wear down at the end of the year

Key is health. They'll put up fight, but I would have the Lakers coming out of the series against them, but hey its only July who knows what will happen during the season lol
