    L.A. Pulls Plug On Odom

The Los Angeles Lakers have pulled their offer to Lamar Odom off the table, the L.A. Daily News is reporting on its website late Tuesday night.

Odom averaged 12.3 points and 9.1 rebounds in 23 playoff games as the Lakers captured the NBA title this past season.

The 6-10 power forward finished his fifth season with the Lakers, following four seasons with the L.A. Clippers (1999-2003) and one season with the Miami Heat (2003-04).

During his 10-year career, the University of Rhode Island product averaged 15.1 points and 8.8 rebounds a game.

The Daily News reports the Lakers gave Odom the option of accepting $30 million for three seasons or $36 million for four years.
More twists and turns, where will he end up?

this is huge, as long as odom doesnt go to no damn Cavs or Celtics then ill be happy

Lakers may not be able to stomp the west like I thought, this really makes it interesting especially with the spurs improving along with dallas and with portlands youth developing more and more (maybe add odom to that mix too???)

I don;t understand why Portland won't make an offer, when they've made an offer to every single other big-name SF/PF on the market

Odom will just come back to LA. He has been in LA the majority of his career. First with Clippers, then lakers.

                        1984 Record: 44-38 (9th in west)
                        1985 Record: 42-40 (7th in west; 1st round exit)
1986 Record: 51-31 (3rd in west; swept in finals)

The Grizzlies theme this season should be : "This Season, We're Doing It For The Lulz"

My best guess is they are concerned with his back issues and they don't want to invest 5 years into that.

That being said, I see Lamar as a perfect fit in Portland. He provides solid defense, a legit third wheel(as long as you don't ask him to do more on a constant basis). Even though Lamar has a track record of showing up and then disappearing he still possesses that game breaking ability which is worth the chance if you got the money to spend.

And the Lakers haven't quite "pulled the plug" yet, they just retracted their current offer. Odom made it sound like in an interview that negotiations with the Lakers were far from over.
