All things considering I don't blame him.
The buyout couldn't be agreed upon so he basically would be paying out of pocket to play for the Timberwolves this year. Can you blame the guy?
If there wasn't the fnancial problems, I'd be jumping his bones but honestly the buyout didn't work out the way it should have, there's no reason to be paying money to come play in the NBA.Comment

Well yeah, no doubt. I'm sure he'd be willing to pay a little out of pocket to play in NY or Cali, but I can't blame him for not wanting to pay extra to play for the Timberwolves.Comment

He's a douche.
How is he a douche?
You would pay millions of your own money to play in the NBA?? Remember that... his income would be negative this year... You aren't going to find a whole lot of guys international or domestic that would take a negative income to play in the NBA.
Endorsement opportunities in New York to cover the cost of his buyout > Endorsement opportunities in Minnesota to cover the cost of his buyoutLast edited by FedEx227; 08-08-2009, 04:44 PM.Comment

Originally posted by Michael ReddConsidering he's said countless times that he'd like nothing more than to play in the NBA, and actually attempted a lot of things in order for his team to accept the buyout, I wouldn't quite be calling him a douche. His team wouldn't agree on the buyout, so if anything call them the douches I guess...Comment

Originally posted by Michael ReddYeah, hence why he was trying to get the team to lower the buyout so he could come over, but they didn't budge.
We've been over this a thousand times and pretty much everyone is aware of how big of a bitch I think he is.Comment

Also fucking hilarious that someone who cant even grow facial hair is a commercial for shaving products.Comment

Ugh. Is it really that hard to realize the business of sports?
Rubio took the risk in attempting to go out early and hoping that his Spanish team would be a little more lenient on their buyout. The same risk came with whatever team drafted him. NBA rules say that a team can only pay $550,000 towards a buyout. It was a definite risk for Rubio and the team that drafted him. Now what he took into consideration was a possible pity from his Spanish team that would lower their buyout, but this is Dice-K type shit. They realize he's young and a huge part of Euro basketball so they drove the price WAY out of the market. Had Rubio gone to a bigger market team he might have bene able to get some better endorsements, and he STILL might be able to, but it's not worth the risk. His entire rookie contract will go towards the buyout. Who the fuck would EVER take that deal? "Hey, you won't be paid for like 4 years just to have the opportunity to play in the NBA!" Yeah right...
His Spanish team is also in trouble with the government, so basically the Spanish IRS owns the teams contracts thus making it tougher for Rubio to get a reasonable buyout from the team.Comment
