          You never know...

I know the city is livid, win or lose, Iverson in M-town.
Work out how? Like Memphis getting like a 7th-8th seed and losing in the first round. Selling more tickets? Memphis isn't winning the finals this year and this move doesn't help them over the long run.

Going from a 24 win season to the playoffs isn't bad by any means.

Done. Unlike last year, the Clippers now have chemistry. Unlike the Grizzlies, having AI and ZBO on the same time will not just bring the lulz, but bring the worst chemistry in the league. Clippers will win more games then the Grizzlies. So I take your bet.

It is cause there's no long term plan. They only got him on a one year deal + Iversons too old to lead them to a championship. Plus they run the risk of pissing off the core they already got by throwing two cancers (AI and ZBO) in there. Making the playoffs is ok, but what are they going to do next year?

NBA commissioner David Stern says that the Grizzlies are very lucky to have signed Allen Iverson.

"I think they got lucky," Stern told the Memphis Commercial Appeal. "A bona-fide star and future Hall of Famer who still has lots of game left is going to prove to be a significant and helpful addition to the Grizzlies."

Stern believes that Iverson's experience will be a key factor in jump-starting the team's rebuilding plan.

"Given the way the team is constructed -- with it being a young team -- this is a chance for them to get better and get veteran leadership. It'll be very good for the team and good for the community," Stern added.

Iverson's used to getting 40+ minutes per game and he's going to need that many (or as low as 35) to be successful on the court.

You guys can hate all you want, but the fact remains that this guy is the 3rd most prolific scorer (Points per game) in NBA history, and probably the best scorer of all time (if you take height and weight into account). This guy is a hall of famer, who should not be disrespected. I don't care if he didn't want to come off the bench, that's his right. Iverson deserves to be a starter on any team in this league, espescially one as weak as Detroit was last year.

I personally think that AI will be an excellent mentor for Mayo and Conley, and might help them improve their scoring abilities so they are better after he leaves the Grizzlies at the end of the season.

I kind of feel bad that Iverson went to Memphis also though, because he has no chance in hell of winning a 'chip there. He's going to go out like Karl Malone, bare-fingered.

Stern thinks the Grizz are lucky to get Iverson because he can see people actually buying tickets now which means money in his pocket.

Ever seen Grizzlies games at the Fedex Forum on tv? You could hear a needle drop.

You're a fucking idiot. He's not a hall of famer yet and people hate on him because he's more successful then them? People are stating facts about him in this thread. AI a mentor? rofl

after he leaves the Grizzlies at the end of the season.

You act like he's gonna retire after this season. First you say he's gonna leave the grizzlies at the end of the season but he has no chance in hell winning a championship with the grizzlies. Of course he has no chance to win one here but memphis was the only team that really wanted him.
