Trade doesn't make sense or hold any merit. I don't see it happening but it's funny to hear trade rumors about Camby and Kaman left and right after the Clippers got Randolph.

Both of their contracts are up after this season anyway. Lee/Frye's that is.

But yeah, it doesn't make much sense at this point for the Knicks.

Why the blood would the Clippers want to take on Q-Rich to dump Camby? That makes almost no sense. I understand the Clippers have 3 starting big men, but they received Camby for a mere 2nd rounder this off-season, you think they wanna turn around and give him away for almost less than the cheap price they got him for? Camby isnt that undervalued.

Camby, 34, has developed into one of the game's best rebounding and defensive centers. He is averaging 12.8 points, 13.3 rebounds and 2.8 blocked shots this season for the Clippers. Ten years ago, Camby played a significant role in helping the Knicks reach the NBA Finals.

However, Camby eventually fell out of favor with Garden chairman James Dolan, who eventually had former Knicks president Scott Layden trade Camby and Camby's best friend, Latrell Sprewell, in successive years. Dolan, according to a club source, would not prevent Walsh from trading for Camby.

Lee's future with the Knicks is uncertain due to his pending free agency. Although the Knicks have the right to match any offer Lee receives, the club would be reluctant to sign Lee to a long-term extension if that deal jeopardizes the Knicks' ability to get under the salary cap by the summer of 2010 when LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are eligible for free agency.

Last week, Walsh hinted that the Knicks need to add more size, which is something they will do when Eddy Curry returns from a knee injury. Walsh is also hopeful that the Knicks can add a backup point guard. Curry practiced Sunday for the first time since Nov. 1.

"We'll see if there are any setbacks," D'Antoni said. "But if he continues ... after a week he'll probably be day-to-day, shouldn't be too long."

Wouldn't it be funny if Camby ended up coming back to the Knicks? He was amazing in his early days up in New York. I don't really think trading for him would be a good move, so I am crossing my fingers the Knicks don't pull the trigger on anything that has to do with Camby.

actually he was horrible in the early days in NYC....he wasn't tough Like Charles Oakley and the fans shit all over him for that...

the home crowd would chant Cotton Camby at him b/c he would be in street clothes every other day...then they made their run in 99' and Camby showed what he could really do...and he was accepted by the NY fans...

this deal only makes sense if Camby has an expiring contract,,,,or else why take on a 34 y/o center making over 8million

That's why...Boom another 8mil off the books in 2010 for their FA run. Donnie Walsh isn't living in the now, he's living in 2010. The man's focus is on that free agency market and not on this season or next. From now on when you hear Knicks trade rumors, consider that two years from now it looks good. For right now though... garbage. Why try to win now with David Lee when you got Chris Bosh in 2010?!

Its not that simple.. If Curry doesn't get moved soon Lee's chances of resigning are slim to none. The Knicks aren't going to take any chances in taking their capspace down by signing Lee to a big contract which he'll want.

CB you bring up a good point. Lee will want a contract and some money to back it up. I think though Donnie is the kind of guy that can sit David down and make "Promises" that he'll put together a winner with Lee's co-operation. So let's say Lee wants a little more cash than what he's making...

Give him a two year contract with the player option for 2011, if he likes what happens to the team than he can stay on through and resign, if he doesn't he's free to walk after the 2010 FA signing period. Either way both parties would win, it would behoove the Knicks to keep Lee around, to see what happens.

If the 2010 FA period doesn't look as enticing as it does now (players sign extensions) then it's a whole new ball game.

The knicks can offer the max contract to a FA, But since the CBA states that a player's current team can offer the most lucrative contract regardless of their salary cap #...The Knicks<B>CAN'T</b> offer the most $$$
