Rumor: Jaguars & 49ers to Host 2010 London Games

A few weeks back, a member of PFT Planet alerted Florio to televised rumors in England attaching the Jaguars and 49ers as"hosts" of the two games expected be played in London next year.

Eagles could be 49ers opponent in London

A few weeks back, a member of PFT Planet alerted Florio to televised rumors in England attaching the Jaguars and 49ers as"hosts" of the two games expected be played in London next year.

Those rumors have made their way across the pond.

Matt Maiocco of the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat writes that "people close to the 49ers" expect the team to give up a home game next year. He writes that the Eagles are the most likely opponent.

Writing on Twitter, Maiocco: A person I'd consider a reliable source tells me there's a 'strong, strong, STRONG' possibility 49ers will' host the game."

The matchup makes sense. Take a team with stadium problems as the home team, and pick a popular team with a strong fanbase as the away team.

Our previous post had the Jaguars possibly hosting the Redskins. If Washington and Philadelphia go abroad, the entire NFC East except Dallas will have played regular season games in London.

God Damn this shit is so gay. Why do they select west coast teams to play in England? Roger Goodell is a dumb fuck.

I'll reiterate the thought as well:

This London game shit is fucking queer. With all due respect to the UK folks.....the main population of fans don't give a rats ass about these games, and I'd guess a majority of the players feel it sucks balls too once they realize the consequences versus a free trip to London. Do you see Liverpool and Arsenal running over to the new Cowboys stadium to play their regular season matchup???

If Goodell follows through with a team in London in the near future, then that will be the equivalent of "jumping the shark" in the TV business.

Maybe the Jags can fill half a stadium this time.

I hate the London game. Just stupid. Needs to be a non-regular season game.

I'm gonna love watching Jacksonville beat the Redskins in London.

Those brits will probably have something to say about our Nation's Capital's team in London.

Wait, the 49ers already lost a game after the debacle in Mexico a few years ago, and now they have to play another game outside the US? What a joke.

The Eagles are the road team in London...so they're not giving up a home game. The 49ers and Jags are the ones giving up home games.

And to Bomber: It's both...they're playing two London games this year.
