Stoudemire won't be traded to the Cavs, but this thread is still very lulzworthy.

Sources: Cleveland Cavaliers inching closer to deal for Amare Stoudemire - ESPN

"The Cleveland Cavaliers and Phoenix Suns are closing in on a deal that would send All-Star forward Amare Stoudemire to Cleveland, according to sources with knowledge of the negotiations.

The Cavaliers would send Zydrunas Ilgauskas and J.J. Hickson to Phoenix in exchange for Stoudemire, one of the league's most dominant big men.

While Cleveland remains in talks with several other teams, the club, from management down to the players, has settled on Stoudemire as its first choice.

The ball is in Phoenix's court. The Suns are mulling whether the financial relief provided by Ilgauskas' $12 million contract and the young and talented Hickson are enough for them to part with Stoudemire.

Cleveland believes the addition of Stoudemire would all but seal LeBron James' re-signing with the team when he becomes a free agent this summer. The Cavaliers are also prepared to sign Stoudemire, who has one year and $17 million remaining on his contract, to a long-term contract extension once the season ends.

The Suns would likely waive Ilgauskas, a move that would allow him to be re-signed by Cleveland after 30 days.

Cleveland is also talking with Washington about acquiring Antawn Jamison, as well as Indiana about Troy Murphy. Meanwhile, Golden State is trying to entice the Cavs into taking Corey Maggette for Ilgauskas."

So essentially Hickson for Amare...This would pretty much guarantee Cleveland a championship pending inuries and Team Chemistry. Amare is a fucking stud.

But someone help me out with the bold part? I have heard this would happen with any deal involing Big Z but Im not sure exactly how it works....I think we got Joe Smith by picking him off waivers before but idk.

If this happens...and LeBron and Amare sign long-term deals...Cavs are gonna run the NBA for a long time.

I would think the Suns would be able to get more for him, but that's just me.

I agree Yawkey. At first it was reported the Suns were looking for a young player and a 1st round draft pick, but I guess they decided an expiring contract is better than the 32nd pick in the draft.

I will be so pumped if this shit goes down, it's Amare Fucking Stoudemire for christ sake.

And I will be even more happy if the Suns waive Big Z, I dont want him to miss out on the championship, he has been through the shit and he deserves it more than anyone. I'll be sad if we arent able to get him back.

Waving him would render the deal completely worthless for the Suns. They are getting him for his expiring deal.

Why the Suns feel that they should fuck every single trade of theirs up, I have no idea.

Well actually it's puts them in a great spot going into 2010 to maybe sign a free agent if/when Z's contract expires.

It looks bad in the short term but is a decent move long term.

Keep in mind the Phoenix Suns' GM is former Cavaliers great Steve Kerr...Im sure he doesnt mind stacking his former team. Once a Cavalier, always a Cavalier. I bet he wants the Cavs to win it all.

Something needs to be done to keep these ridiculously bad trades from happening. If Amare goes to Cleveland for JJ Hickson its a fucking joke.

Yeah, I'm sure Kerr sits in his Phoenix office drumming up ways to improve the Cavs.

                          :pet:

Yes because when people think of Steve Kerr they remember the 105 games he played for Cleveland in just over 2 seasons....Not the 3 NBA Championships in 5 seasons and 378 games he played for the Bulls.

When is the big Amar'e to Chicago deal going through? Are they going to send Steve Nash as well?
