I don't think it was 100% that they were going to all play together but they absolutely signed extension and got their contracts ready to all expire at the same time.

Anybody else hear anything about this, or is it just internet gossip?

If it's true, that this was set up years ago, then Cleveland should be pissed. It's a little hard for me to believe this.

Anyone heard anything about this? True, False?
I believe you're right on that. They did it so they could have an opportunity of playing together in 2010. I heard that somewhere as well.

SI said it was all blasphemy in several articles I've read. No one can be sure either way.

Not really sure how you can say that when it was clearly visible that LeBron looked Lethargic(no pun intended) in that final game. It wasn't them losing to a "better, more playoff ready team"(although Boston probably IS that), it was LeBron being okay with losing an elimination game and looking incredibly distant from Basketball itself while doing so.

How can people say he didn't give a good effort when the man went 27/19/10? Since when is a triple double such a bad effort in an elimination game with all the pressure to win or go home? Maybe he looked lethargic towards the end because he played amazing basketball and worked his ass off for 46 minutes that night. People seriously need to stop putting him on robot status.

When you watch a game, you can pretty much see who's distant within the game, and who's not. It's intangible; something that you won't see on a Stat sheet anywhere. Call it Killer Instinct.

Actually, the only time he looked alive that night is when he hit two three-pointers back to back in the third quarter. Then he went back to being lethargic. I think the only hope people had for the Cavaliers to win that game was during those three pointers.

And he looked lethargic the WHOLE game, not just in the 4th quarter. When Kobe was in game 7, he didn't have his best game but he didn't look downright out of it for the entirety of the game. When situations call for it, the best players are able to be clutch, and close it for their team. I'm not saying that the best are ALWAYS going to do that, but the stage is set at least. LeBron didn't try. He simply quit. Sure, his stats were great, but the effort wasn't in that game for the most part.

Did you even watch the game? Or is the sight of LeBron James in a Heat jersey blinding you from the obvious?

This is the problem with the way people view LeBron. They see him as God-like and he's not. You want him to hit five threes in a row, instead of just two of the biggest shots of the game. If he would have went 40/20/20 then maybe people are happy with his effort. How much are you going to ask from a guy when he has no team behind him?

The Cavs didn't give away the series, the Celtics took it from them. The Celtics bench dominated the Cavs bench the entire series. When Kobe struggled, and that's an understatement, in game 7, who picked him up? His entire team. Artest had his best game, Gasol dominated, Fisher made big shots, etc. The bench had a +/- of 31. The Cavs bench in the final game? -17.

And I watched the game twice actually.

I was responding to you about the fact that you said SI said they hadn't all talked about ending their contracts at the same time.

That SI article proves the exact opposite.

Then Riley goes on for a plan called "The Triple Play". Riley and the Heat had been preparing for this for years and no one really noticed. All the attention was drawn elsewhere because everyone assumed James wanted/needed to be "the guy"..when that's obvious now that it wasn't the case.

I'm not "jealous" of a thing. I'm just pointing out the fact that you are 1. wrong and 2. the inner workings were really interesting.

I'm not saying that he needed to go 40/20/20. I'm saying he was playing half-heartedly that game. The point of the Kobe reference was that Kobe still gave an effort. When LeBron was passed the ball, he just dished it off to someone else. Over and over again.

So being one of the best passers in league history, especially at the 3, is now a bad thing?

When "quitting" in the fourth quarter, LeBron had 10 pts, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists. This on 3-5 shooting with 2-2 from the charity stripe. That's one hell of a fourth quarter for a guy that quit.

Find me the SI article(s) then..you don't reference any other publication at all.

Not that it matters as this information post dates anything you would find....

But go ahead and go for it.

I think it's overly conspiratorial to say this "plot" was hatched back on 2006 but it's also ridiculously naive to not think that it was started to get talked about a year or two ago amongst them once these two or three guys saw all these teams freeing up enough space for multiple max contract guys.

Of course they probably talked about the possibility. Who wouldn't? LeBron probably talked to Amare, CP3, Carmelo, Bosh, Wade, Dwight Howard, Kwame Brown and Brian Cardinal all about playing together. People are trying to say it has been there plan since the contracts were signed, which was more than 3 years ago. Of course there was the possibility of playing together, but it's retarded to think it's been their concrete plan since 06-07 to play together in Miami in 2010.
