Report: Paul Has Demanded Trade To Knicks, Magic, Lakers

According to a source with knowledge of his plan, Chris Paul has requested that the Hornets trade him to the Knicks, Magic or Lakers before the season begins.

"He wants out," the source told Ken Berger of CBS Sports. "He wants to play with another superstar. He wants to follow LeBron's model of teaming up with other great players."

NBA sources say that members of Paul's camp told them recently, "He's not going to start the season in New Orleans."

The Hornets will try to persuade Paul to remain based on the team's new direction.

"Paul won't go public with his trade request -- if he did, he'd be subject to a fine under NBA rules -- but those with knowledge of his plans believe his desire to pair up with another superstar (or two) has gained too much momentum to stop," writes Berger.

The Knicks are preparing to make an attractive offer to acquire a superstar talent via trade.

"According to sources familiar with the Knicks' strategy," writes Berger, "part of the reason for orchestrating the sign-and-trade for David Lee -- which yielded young talents Anthony Randolph and Kelenna Azubuike from Golden State -- was to stock the roster with attractive assets that could be used to acquire such marquee players if the opportunities presented themselves."

You kinda knew he wasn't happy in NOLA.

the only place to go would be the knicks

in order for the magic to get him they would have to dump a shit load of contracts on the new orleans as well as find a way to get rid of both pg's nelson and newly signed duhon

he probably will stay in new orleans unless they bite the bullet and send him to the knicks, for who and what i dont know the knicks team is shit when it comes to trading material
    RIP

Come to NYC please, then Melo will surely come...

Or go to Orlando and team up with Howard.

The Knicks are the most realistic option out of the three teams. If he goes to Orlando, wow, it'll be pick and rolls and alley-oops all day!

Paul wants to win and New Orleans doesn't look like they're going to win any time soon.

this seems different a bit but is it really?

NO and CLE are the same when it comes to markets and winning or lack there of.

But CP3 isnt from NO right? Not like LBJ? Seems hypocritical of me to give any type of criticsm to LBJ and not CP3.

IMO CP3 is a top 4 player in the LG and is vastly overlooked cuz of whos playing right now.

really red you dont see the difference

the huge thing that is fairly obvious to me is that new orleans did not get any help for paul and instead let people go in order to go under the luxury tax and they have shown no sign of doing anything lol did they even get anyone in this years free agency

As much as I hate the idea of these crybabies having to stack their teams like they're playing a pickup game, any move that further prevents the Heat from winning a championship is fine by me.

Wonder if anyone will knock Chris Paul for wanting to leave and play along another superstar player? I see nothing wrong with it, seem like its the way the league has changed to going back a few years with the Lakers getting Pau and the Celtics acquiring KG and Ray Allen.

This is going to sound biased but I think the idea of a PG wanting to play with another superstar isn't as absurd as a a wing or SG wanting to do it. The game of a PG can be solely dependent on the talent around him.

Orlando needs him badly to be able to compete in the East IMO.

How would he go to LA after they just signed Steve Blake and resigned Derek Fisher?
