A quick review of the deal....
TO NEW YORK
SF Carmelo Anthony (3 Year, $65 Million extension will keep him a Knick through the 2013-14 season, I think)
-Superstar, first time in decades the Knicks have had two legitimate top of the food chain NBA all-stars.
PG Chauncey Billups ($14.2 million Team Option next year)
- 35 years old, has averaged over 16 PPG, 5 APG, 92% FT shooter, 44% 3PT shooter this year in 32 MPG. Probably the better overall PG than the younger Felton. Will be key because he could be used next year as an expiring contract unless they don't pick up his option for next season.
SF/SG Corey Brewer (RFA after this season)
-Long player who averaged 8 pts with Minnesota this year, he's probably a defensive specialist best. Bench, role player.
F Renaldo Balkman ($1.675 Million each for next year and the 2012/13 season)
-6'8 forward originally drafted 20th overall by NY in 2006. Has not been a factor at all in Denver, played in just 5 games this year and 13 games last year.
PG Anthony Carter (Free Agent to be)
-Bench player, played in just 14 games this year. Whether NY is comfortable with him as their only true PG on the bench (Douglas is a combo guard) remains to be seen.
F/C Shelden Williams (Free Agent to be)
-2006 5th overall pick by Atlanta, has not played like it. Played for 3 different teams the past three seasons. Active in 42 games this year, averaged 4.7 PPG, 5.3 RPG. Perhaps they can use him as a back-up center but I doubt they'd like it.
TO DENVER
PG Ray Felton ($7.5 Million next year, he'll become a FA after next season)
-Really looked amazing early in the season in D'Antoni's system, developed great chemistry with Amare and company. Denver apparently wants Ty Lawson as their PG so this is a weird move. It's assumed Denver will look to move Felton before Thursday. Averaged career high in minutes (38), points, assists, steals, and FT percentage through 54 games with New York.
G/F Wilson Chandler (RFA at the end of this year)
-Late first round pick in 2007 of NY, has improved in each season in the NBA. Has had an ankle issue this year, he also had surgery to repair it in the off-season. He was perhaps the guy most effected by the trade talks (a month or more ago, he bluntly said he did not want to go to Denver). He's versatile as he can play the 2, 3 or 4 spots. Averaged 16 PPG, 1.4 BPG, 6 RPG with a 80% FT, 35% 3PT and 46% FG. He expects to get a big contract (not max obviously) in the off-season when he becomes a RFA. Who knows what the new CBA will do but if it stays the same for RFA, the Nuggets will have the opportunity to match any offers other teams make to Chandler.
SF Danilo Gallinari (RFA after next season)
-6th overall pick in 2008 by New York, the Italian became a fan favorite for his three point ability and overall fun style on the court. He's a great free throw shooter (89% this year) who gets to the line often because he has learned to drive to the court and get fouled. Has averaged 34.7% success rate from behind the three point line this season. Averaged 16 PPG in 34 MPG this year. He'll be 23-years old in the summer, has obvious potential to grow but remains to be seen if he can develop the ability to play with his back to the hoop. He hustles on defense...sad to see you go. Weird dynamic as there were reports the Denver front office were not fans of his but they got him included in the deal and denied reports that they would trade him after acquiring him.
C Timofey Mozgov ($2.5 mil next season and $2.7 mil in 2012/13, then FA)
-Will be 25-years old in the summer, he's a 7'1 Russian who made his NBA debut this year. Played in 34 games this year, averaging 13 MPG, 4 PPG, 0.7 BPG, 3 RPG. Played limited ball in December and January. His best game this year was on Jan 30th against Detroit when he scored 23 points, 14 boards (both career highs, 5 of 6 from the line in 39 minutes. His last game as a Knick came in the win over Atlanta when he played about 14 minutes, scoring 4 points with 1 board and 1 block.
Knicks 2014 First Round Draft Pick
Warriors 2012 & 2013 Second Round Draft Picks (Acquired Originally from the David Lee sign & trade)
TO MINNESOTA
F/C Anthony Randolph (RFA After Next Season)
-Now on his third professional team since being drafted 14th overall by Golden State in 2008. Never earned playing time in D'Antoni's system and reportedly had his people request a trade a month ago. Only played in 17 games this year, Minnesota will now try and bring the kid up to his potential. On his side, he'll be 22-years old this summer.
C Eddy Curry (FAT ASS IS DONE!)
-Waste of space has played a total of 10 games over the past three seasons. Minnesota wanted his contract which expires at the end of the year, if they don't buy him out first (reports say Miami is interested).

KNICKS need Howard! Fuck CP3 and/or Deron Williams... A PG that can pass the ball is a dime a dozen... Having a front court of Melo, Amare and Howard = Multiple Championships!
Gwad Damn the second half of next season and the 2013-14 just got that much more interesting.
OMG I can't wait for Sundays game!Comment

Ive been a nuggets fan since 96' when I use to work at the dip n dots counter at old McNichoals arena. Had to do fundraising for middle/high school wrestling...
Anyway long story short I slowly became a bigger Melo fan, don't get me wrong I still love the Nuggets, but after I suffered threw pretty much some of the worst NBA teams ever, and shitty Avalanche (hockey) fans talking shit. I rejoiced at the drafting of Melo and he instantly became my favorite player!Comment

Anyway, a four game sweep isn't happening if the Knicks make the playoffs. Melo and Amare def WILL the Knicks to a respectable 1-4 playoff exit!Comment
